Beeston Boiler Company - Cricket

Two photographs from a collection by James Reginald (always known as 'Reg') Whitehouse (1893-1967) that have been kindly provided by Robert Percey, Reg's grandson-in-law.

A native of Long Eaton, Reg came to Beeston to live on Alexander Road (later Crescent) after his marriage to Jessie Florence Pallett (1895-1966) in 1924 and after taking a job at Beeston Foundry (later Beeston Boiler) in 1925. He continued to work there up to his eventual retirement, having moved to live on Mona Street, Beeston. As is very clear from these photographs, probably of the Foundry's cricket team, in about 1925, and those of its bowls team, he was a very competant bowler and cricketer and a great asset to these teams.
