  Death Notes:

"My grandmother lived to be ninety-nine-and-a-half years old and when she was between eighty and ninety she walked four or five miles to hear me preach" - Dr John Clifford, quoted in "The Life of John Clifford" by Sir James Marchant (Page 7)

This would indicate a birth year of about 1782-3. The various census entries however, indicate various birth years. In 1881 she is recorded as age 96 (b cir 1784-5), in 1851 as 68 (cir 1782-3), in 1841 between 50 and 54 (cir 1786-1791).

Note : She has not been found on the 1871census and a possible entry in the 1861 census has not been confirmed.

  Noted events in her life were:

• Occupation: lace worker, at the time of the census in March 1851. ²⁵⁶ She was then by then widowed and living with two adult children, a grandson and two lodgers at Church Street, Sawley, Derbyshire.

Mary married Joseph Clifford, son of James Clifford and Ann Pym. (Joseph Clifford was born circa 1787 in Derbys ²⁵⁰, baptised on 12 Jan 1787 in Sawley & Long Eaton, Derbyshire ²⁵¹ and died before Mar 1851.)
