  Noted events in his life were:

• Occupation: farmer, by the time of the census in June 1841. ³²⁹ He was living on the farm at Higney, Ramsey, Huntingdonshire with his wife, brother, son and another family member who may be his child. There were six farm and domestic servents.

• Occupation: farmer of 875 acres, at the time of the census in March 1851. ³³⁰ He was then a widower, living and farming at Higney, Ramsey, Huntingdonshire. His daughter Mary was keeping house, two sons were assiting on the farm and his younger brother, Henry were living there as was Ann, another relative. There were four farm and somestic servants also in the household. 19 labourers were employed on the farm.

John next married Rebecca Bromhead, daughter of Living and Living, on 29 Dec 1814 in Ryhall, Rutland.³²⁵ (Rebecca Bromhead was born circa 1788 ³³¹, baptised on 23 Sep 1788 in Ryhall, Rutland ³³² and died Q1 1850 in Huntingdon Registration District ³³³.)
