  Noted events in his life were:

• Residence, at the time of the census in June 1841, Radcliffe On Trent, Notts. ⁴⁸⁰ He was then living as a cottager with his wife and her niece, Alice Harwood.

• Residence: adjacent to the Harwoods at Beeston Rylands, by the time of the census in March 1851. ⁴⁸¹ He was a widower and described as an annuitant by that time.

Samuel married Mary Harwood, daughter of John Harwood and Mary Hazeldine, on 6 Jan 1814 in Radcliffe On Trent, Notts.²⁶ (Mary Harwood was born circa 1766 in Notts ⁴⁷⁴, baptised on 31 Aug 1766 in Radcliffe On Trent, Notts ⁴⁷⁵ and died Q1 1843 in Bingham Registration District, Notts ⁴⁷⁶.)
