• Census: 1881, 3 Apr 1881, St Mary, Leicester. ⁴⁰⁴ at 12 Carlton Street, aged 37, working as a Master Plumber, employing three men and three boys, living with his wife and one child and apparently living next door to his retired parents

• Occupation: Plumber, etc (employer), at the time of the census in April 1891. ⁴⁰⁵ He was then living at 3 Portland Street, Leicester with his second wife, his son by his first wife and a baby son. There is one domestic servant.

• Occupation: plumber, glazier, gas fitter, etc (employer), at the time of the census in March 1901. ⁴⁰⁶ he was then living with his second wife and their two children at 3 Portland Street, Leicester.

William married Emma L Hill Q3 1866 in Leicester Registration District.³⁹⁶ (Emma L Hill was born in 1845 in Derby ⁴⁰⁷ and died BY 1889.)

William next married Frances Withers Bennett Q2 1889 in Leicester Registration District.³⁹⁷ (Frances Withers Bennett was born circa 1844 in Leicester ^408,409.)
