bullet  Noted events in his life were:

• Occupation: fruit grower, at the time of the census in April 1911. 3 He was then living at Carrig, Longdon Hill, Evesham, Worcs with two young chidren. His wife is away at her parents in Hukk and her sister is staying her, presumably to care for the children. They employ two domestic servants.

• Military Service: as a Captain in the Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, during the Great War. 4 Capt. Stanley Whitaker Moss Blundell (1883-1963) enlisted in the King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry and joined the 1st Battalion in France on 26th May 1915. The only surviving Army records concern his medals and these are recorded under the name Blundell, whereas in the 1911 census he was Moss-Blundell. At that time he was a fruit grower on Longdon Hill, having been born in Ferriby, N. Yorkshire; the son of Edward and Helen Moss; his father at the 1891 census was described as 'living by his own means'. His surname was changed to Moss-Blundell when he married into the Blundell family, who were paint manufacturers in Hull. The 1 st Battalion K.O.Y.L.I. left France, from Marseilles, on 26 th October 1915 and disembarked at Salonika, Greece on 7 th December, to take part in the Balkans campaign. They left Greece in June 1918, arrived in Taranto, Italy on 2 nd July on route to France where they were attached to the 50 th Division. It is not known if he was with his unit for all of this time. Moss-Blundell applied for his medals in February 1920 and received all three service medals - the 1914/15 Star, British and Victory medals. At that time he was living at Laurel Bank, Saltash, Cornwall but gave his permanent address as St Malo, Osborne Road, Shanklin on the Isle of Wight. His name appears in the London Gazette in 1940 having rejoined the Army on 3 rd July 1940, whilst in his mid-50s.


Stanley married someone Eleanor Annie Gresham, daughter of Charles Ernest Gresham and Edith Eleanor Ingleby, Q1 1907 in Hull Registration District. (Eleanor Annie Gresham was born Q3 1882 in Hull, Yorks 5 and died on 3 Jan 1954 in Hove Registration District, Sussex 6.)
