• Occupation: fellmonger, at the time of the census in June 1841. ²⁰¹ He was then living at Leen Gate, Lenton, Notts with his wife, two children, a labourer, three apprentices and a domestic servant.

• Occupation: farmer and fellmonger, at the time of the census in March 1851. ²⁰² He employed 160 men 20 boys 20 women at that time and was living with his second wife, two children and two domestic servants at Cemetery Road, Nottingham. A Baptist Minister was visiting.

• Occupation: leather dresser and farmer, at the time of the census in April 1861. ²⁰³ He was then living at Lenton Abbey, Lenton, Notts with his second wife, two children and four servants. He was farming 347 acres and employing 237 men, 52 boys and 25 women.

• Occupation: landowner, at the time of the census in April 1871. ²⁰⁴ He was then living at Lenton Abbey, Lenton, Notts with his two adult children and three servants. His wife was visiting her spinster sisters in Newark.

Thomas married Charlotte Readett, daughter of Living and Martha Killingley, on 5 Oct 1847 in Newark (St Marys), Notts.²⁹ (Charlotte Readett was born circa 1804 in Newark, Notts ^{205,206,207,208,209}, baptised on 28 Jun 1804 in Newark (St Marys), Notts ²¹⁰ and died Q1 1892 in Nottingham Registration District ²¹¹.)

Thomas next married Harriett Turner Q4 1837 in Nottingham Registration District. (Harriett Turner was born circa 1816 in Notts ¹⁹⁶ and died Q3 1846 in Lenton, Notts ^212,213.)
