He registered for the World War 1 Draft on 5 June 1917. He was then working as a clerk in the M P & M Department of the Oregan Short Light Rail Road Company, in Pocatello, Idaho. He was then single with no dependants and was staying at the YMCA in Pocatello. He stated that he had had one year's experience as a Private in the British Army. 174

• Occupation: clerk in the M P &M Department of the Oregon Short Light Railroad Company, by 5 Jun 1917, Pocatello, Idaho, USA. 177 He was then living at the YMCA in Pocatello.
• Occupation: bookkeeper for an oil company, at the time of the US Federal Census in January 1920. 178 He was then living with his wife and their son, renting property in Salt Lake City, Utah.
William married Theressa circa 1917. (Theressa was born circa 1895 in Illinois, USA 179.)
Marriage Notes:
William was single at the time of his registration for the draft on 5 Jun 1917. As their first child was born in about April 1918, it is likely that they married in the summer of 1917.
