Elizabeth Tompson

  Noted events in her life were:

• Occupation: draper, at the time of the census in March 1851. ²⁸⁸ She and her two brothers were apparently assisting their father in the business on Long Row where they were still living at home.

• Residence: Long Row, Nottingham, at the time of the census in April 1861. ²⁸⁴ She and her widowed mother continued to live here with brother Charles apparently assuming overall responsibility for the drapery business.

• Residence: 271 Oxford Street, Westminster, London, at the time of the census in April 1871. ²⁹⁸ She was then visiting William & Teresa James who ran an Ironmongery. Teresa was born Teresa Mary Crossley in 1827 in Ashby-de-la-Zouch and was therefor a near contemporary of Elizabeth's.
