• Occupation: labourer in an iron yard, by the time of the census in April 1871. ⁵⁰ He was then living at 43 John St, Bishopwearmouth, Durham with his mother.

• Occupation: engine fitter, at the time of the census in April 1881. ⁵¹ He was then living at 31 Whitburn St, Monkwearmouth, Durham with his wife and three children.

• Occupation: machine man, at the time of the census in April 1891. ⁵² He was then living with his wife and five children at 36 Whitburn St, Monkwearmouth, Durham.

• Occupation: milling machine worker, at the time of the census in March 1901. ⁵³ He was then living with his wife and their two younger sons at 36 Hartington St, Sunderland, Durham, next to their son Frederick's family.

Frederick married Sarah Ann Curry Q2 1872 in Sunderland Registration District.⁴⁴ (Sarah Ann Curry was born circa 1851 in Monkwearmouth, Durham ^54,55,56.)
